We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to support the efficient running of our finance department.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent                Salary: £25,000 – £27,000                    Ref: BK/GBCH

Green Bridge Community Housing (GBCH) is a supported accommodation provider based in South Yorkshire and operating across the UK.

We empower vulnerable adults and young people to (re)integrate into mainstream society through the provision of safe and secure accommodation and tailored support.

The Role:

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive, efficient, and compliant accounts management system. For the right candidate, there will be scope for progression to the role of Finance Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • General accounting administrative duties; including processing payments and invoices, maintenance of all accounting records and reconciliation of accounts
  • Preparation of monthly and yearly accounts
  • Implementing effective risk mitigation procedures; verifying accuracy of accounts, alerting management to any errors, executing remedial action plans
  • Ensuring internal accounting processes are compliant with relevant regulations
  • Managing budgets and undertaking forecasting
  • Liaising with relevant external agencies, including auditors
  • Preparing audit files
  • Managing employee payroll and expenses
  • Attending weekly finance team meetings and contributing to departmental planning

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in accounting/bookkeeping
  • Understanding of UK Tax law and compliance with other statutory regulations including PAYE
  • Experience of using payroll and accounting software
  • Understanding of confidentiality, information-sharing, financial due diligence, and risk mitigation
  • Able to successfully contribute to meetings, achievement of departmental goals and coordinate work with team members
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication, planning, and organisation skills
  • Able to liaise and manage relationships with external stakeholders, namely auditors
  • Highly motivated and solution-focused, able to work with patience, empathy, and professionalism in challenging environments
