Green Bridge Community Housing (GBCH) are currently looking for a number of Support & Engagement Workers to join our rapidly growing organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for patient, reliable and empathetic individuals who can inspire people to make positive changes to their lives and realise their full potential. We are seeking a motivated and reliable support worker to join our friendly team in supporting vulnerable adults within the community. The suitable candidate would be required to have access to a car as the visits to service users are at their relevant addresses – mileage costs will be paid.
We require someone with good social skills, an easy-going nature and willingness to learn as well as help others. The candidate would be required to visit vulnerable adults and check on their welfare as well as help them with day-to-day tasks as and when necessary. We are seeking a quality candidate and the pay would reflect that.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Support:
- Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with residents.
- Provide emotional and practical support to residents facing challenges.
- Assist residents in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and budgeting.
- Advocacy and Liaison:
- Act as an advocate for residents, ensuring their needs and preferences are communicated and respected.
- Collaborate with external agencies, healthcare providers, and community resources to enhance resident support.
- Safety and Well-being:
- Monitor and promote the health and well-being of residents.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established protocols for crisis intervention.
- Ensure a safe and secure living environment through regular checks and assessments.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident progress, incidents, and interactions.
- Prepare regular reports for supervisory and managerial staff as required.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with fellow support workers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and staff development activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar support worker role.
- Relevant qualification in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Knowledge of the issues faced by individuals in supported accommodation settings.
Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving and crisis intervention skills.
Working Conditions:
- The position requires working regular business hours from 9 to 5, as well as responding to emergencies that may occur outside of the standard working hours.
- Subject to background checks and relevant clearance procedures.
