Role Overview
As a Team Leader, your role is two-fold. You will work directly with service users to support their ongoing social, emotional, mental, and physical development and wellbeing and you will ensure service provision is effective, adheres to the policies and procedures of the organisation, and meets its aims and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership:
– Monitoring and supervising support workers (weekly).
– Ensuring support provision complies with organisational policies/procedures and support processes.
– Liaising with the Support Services Manager; providing regular updates & attending team meetings as required.
Team Support:
– Assist support workers with complex SU issues incidents and complaints.
– Provide cover for staff absences/shortages.
– Shadowing and on-job training of new support staff.
Office Duty:
– Completing Pen Portraits for new signs up.
– Responding to service user enquiries.
– Provision of practical support and advice to service users.
Effective and Responsive Support Provision:
– Provision of practical support and advice that meets specific needs.
– Ensuring support reflects actions and goals identified in support plan.
– Reviewing/updating support plans and risk assessments.
– Maintaining comprehensive and relevant records of support provision.
– Ensuring service user files are up to date. Completing all relevant documentation as per policies and procedures.
– Property inductions for new service users.
– Welfare checks – cleanliness, bin collections, repairs etc.
Multi-agency working:
– Liaising/working collaboratively with external organisations and stakeholders.
– Referring to support services/agencies as appropriate.
What We’re Looking For:
- Full UK driving license and access to a car (travel across Leeds required).
- Ideally previous team leader experience.
- Experience of supporting vulnerable adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience of liaising with external organisations and attending multi-agency meetings.
- Experience of supporting people with a range of health and wellbeing needs inc. mental health, domestic abuse, homelessness, substance misuse.
- Understanding of safeguarding and risk mitigation.
- Understanding compliance, organisational processes and implementing policies and procedures.
- Able to demonstrate effective administrative skills – maintain and update records and complete support documentation.
- Able to demonstrate effective organisation and time-management skills – able to manage a large caseload.
- Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour and diffusing difficult situations.
- Able to demonstrate effective communication skills – inc. disseminating information across teams, contributing to staff meetings.
- Understanding the support needs of and challenges facing vulnerable adults.
- Able to build rapport, work with empathy and professionalism.
- Able to work flexibly and responsively – using initiative to overcome challenges.
